Group Symmetry and Algebra for Physical Review A and Physical Review E

Please note the style followed by Physical Review A and Physical Review E for group symmetry, group algebra, and topology notation.

Group symmetries are roman and capitalized when followed by a number:

     SU(3), SU₃, O(n), U(n), Sp(n)

Group symmetries are italic and capitalized for single letters with subscript:

     S_N

Algebras are lowercase roman:

     su, su₃, su(3)

The following double-letter symbols are acceptable for describing topology and should be defined at their first occurrence; they are set roman:

     Wr   Writhing number
      Lk   Linking number
     Tw   Twist number
     Ca   Catenation number
