Phys. Rev. A 71, 062335 (2005) [4 pages]Quantum logic gates for two atoms with a single resonant interactionReceived 20 January 2005; revised 28 February 2005; published 24 June 2005 A scheme is presented for realizing two-atom quantum logic gates with a single resonant interaction. The scheme does not use the cavity mode as the data bus and only requires a single resonant interaction of the atoms with a cavity mode. Thus the scheme is very simple and the interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence. Quantum information can be directly transferred from one atom to another atom using this idea. The scheme can also be generalized to the ion trap system. © 2005 The American Physical Society URL:
