The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock model has been employed to compute the magnetic dipole hyperfine structure constant and the electric field gradient in the 3P1 state of neutral mercury. Combined with the experimental electric quadrupole hyperfine interaction constant, the computed electric field gradient yields the nuclear quadrupole moment Q=387±6 mb for 201Hg. This value is in good agreement with older muonic, atomic, and solid-state values, but differs from the latest muonic result and from the recent γ spectroscopy determination.
