Phys. Rev. A 69, 043612 (2004) [6 pages]Landau-Zener problem for trilinear systemsReceived 10 December 2002; revised 25 August 2003; published 20 April 2004 We consider a nonlinear version of the Landau-Zener problem, focusing on photoassociation of a Bose-Einstein condensate as a specific example. Contrary to the exponential rate dependence obtained for the linear problem, when the resonance is crossed slowly the no-transition probability is directly proportional to the rate at which the resonance is crossed. © 2004 The American Physical Society URL:
