Phys. Rev. A 69, 024302 (2004) [3 pages]Mixture of multiple copies of maximally entangled states is quasipureReceived 25 July 2003; revised 6 November 2003; published 9 February 2004 Employing the general bilateral controlled-NOT operation and local state discrimination, the mixed state of the form ρd(k)=(1/d2)∑m,n=0d-1(|φmn〉〈φmn|)⊗k is proved to be quasipure, where {|φmn〉} is the canonical set of mutually orthogonal maximally entangled states in d×d. Therefore irreversibility does not occur in the process of distillation for this family of states. Also, the distillable entanglement is calculated explicitly. © 2004 The American Physical Society URL:
