Benchmark energy calculations on Be-like atoms

Upper bounds to the nonrelativistic ground-state energies of beryllium isoelectronic ions with 3<~Z<~10 were computed from 1600-term exponentially correlated Gaussian functions. The energies obtained substantially improve over previous variational results known from literature. The mass polarization corrections to the energy are also presented.
