The 3p→2s line-emission cross section for Fe23+ is calculated in the configuration-average distorted-wave approximation. Contributions from 2s→3p dielectronic recombination, from 2s→3p direct excitation, and from 2s→4l resonant excitation-autoionization are included. Agreement between the distorted-wave calculations and the recent electron-beam ion-trap experiments of Gu et al. [Astrophys. J. 518, 1002 (1999)] is very good.
