The Thomas-Fermi-Dirac statistical model and one that adds a Debye-Hückel interaction between particles is used to compute the Gibbs potential for mixtures. It is found that, in certain cases, the two models have different predictions with respect to phase separation. Calculations are presented for the mixtures of iron and hydrogen under astrophysical conditions.
